Questions to be discussed::
- How have media systems of different countries changed in the course of the XX-XXI centuries? What are the reasons for that?
- What is the future of traditional print media (newspapers, magazines, books) in the age of digitalization?
- How important is the role of social, political, cultural and technological influences in transforming media systems across the world?
- Do media systems of European, Asian, African, American or Australian countries still retain their national specifics, and if so, to what extent? How are these specific features reflected in print media, broadcasting and online media?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of the 'homogenization' trend for national cultures, identities, and subsequently for national media markets?
- Is there a need for a new classification of media systems across the world? If so, what criteria should be used to describe current state of media systems (political regimes, culture values, role of the state, professionalization of journalism, etc.)?

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
Professor François Heinderyckx (Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium) was among founding members of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) in 2005 and was the president of the association from its creation until 2012. He was the 2013-2014 President of the International Communication Association (ICA).

Professor Kaarle Nordenstreng (University of Tampere, Finland) was a consultant to UNESCO, the vice-president of the International Association for Media and Communications Research (IAMCR), head the Department of Journalism at the University of Tampere. Currently Professor Nordenstreng leads a research project "Media Systems in Flux: The Challenge of the BRICS Countries" aimed at the analysis of journalistic media systems and cultures of the BRICS countries

Professor Sonia Virginia Moreira (Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) is a specialist in the area of journalism and media culture, she has been carrying out research with emphasis on the areas of broadcasting industry in Brazil (specially radio) and regional and international communication. Sonia is the author of several articles and book chapters on journalism and communication-related topics.

Professor Bharthur Parthasarathy Sanjay (University of Hyderabad, India) was involved in studying the historic Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE) and his professional expertise and interests are in the areas of political economy of information and communication technologies, development communication, and international communication. He was the director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. Sanjay was the pro vice-chancellor of the university. At present he is the vice-chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu.

Associate Professor Lerong Jia (Communication University of China (CUC). Dr. Jia received Master's degree at the School of Journalism, Renmin University of China (RUC) in 1999, and doctoral degree at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2003. Dr. Jia has served as a faculty member at CUC since July 2003. During her professional career, she has published about 30 papers in the academic Journals in China and Russia.
